AZ Budget Movers

I have not led the best life, but it’s also not the hardest or worse life. I work hard and I used to party harder. I’ve done many many things in my life in which I am proud of. I am not a typical young adult. I am 21 and I been feeling very down about how humanity has "advanced" per se. I am a mover and a shaker; kinda like the Quakers. Which means I don’t fully reject traditional ways but I do tweak them as I see fit for the greater good of mankind. I am not perfect and I am always the most optimistic and I give up a lot but I do try.

In regards to how far we’ve come with relationships, war, peace, technology, medical advancements, etc. It seems that in a lot of ways they were developed not to bring people closer but to make us more resilient to death, stronger, taller, healthier, and even more "advanced" than previous generations against "others."

By others I mean those we see fit enough to be a part of our society.

I should clarify. I am not Caucasian and my family has not been in the United States for more than perhaps three decades. I am first generation born and the first to be graduating from college.

I guess it’s hard to explain what I am thinking but the Arizona Immigration Law and all this hubbub about immigration this, immigration that. It has me feeling down.

My family are refugees and were granted sanction in the United States after being "assimilated" meaning they were "re-educated" to be fit to be here and sponsored to be here. The majority of the people of my ethnicity that arrived here were brought over by Christian families who at times had ulterior motives. I am grateful my family is here and I was born here but at the same time I am greatly overwhelmed and frustrated.

So, I suppose my true question is, where is the good in our overall existence?

This got my mind turning when I heard about the crack and cocaine (powder) punishments being somewhat equivalent. What happened was they lowered the consequences of crack down to cocaine, which is determined by studies as being crack=black populations and cocaine=white populations. I was a bit uneasy about this. Why didn’t cocaine punishments go up to be equivalent to crack usage? Why did crack punishments get lowered to cocaine?

The insinuations has me infuriated.

O k I am 33 married with 2 boys 12 and 8 yrs. I have wanted to move to another state for about 4 years. I never have the balls to do it. I have about 8000 saved up, I will be graduating with my AA in Human Services this summer. I was thinking about sending my two boys to stay for the summer with there dad and me and my husband Move and get jobs, apartment etc… before getting the boys back. Has any one ever done this? I really need honest advise from experienced movers!LOL I am scared. I feel it I do not do this I will be stuck in FL forever. It is a hard housing market here and Housing is so expensvie. I was thinking about Arizona. All comment welcome. Is this enough money to do it?
I do not plan to take furniture( to expensive to move)only clothes and important family things that can not be replaced.
My ex husband is supportive of me taking the boys, he would only have them for 6 weeks in the summer like every summer. Jobs are hard to get 2000 miles away. I have never had a problem find ing a job. My husband says he is wanting to go as bad as I do. I think it would be easier to move, find job without the kids with us.I do not want to stress them out more.

We’ll be moving in a few months. Since we’ll be going quite a distance, we were thinking about having professional movers move our things (which will be paid for by the Air Force). Would someone please describe the process? Also, we have boxes that are already packed and taped up, that have been sitting in our closet; will the movers have to unpack all our stuff so that they can pack it themselves? We’ve heard some good stories, but a lot of bad stories about being ripped off, stolen from, or having things left behind. I’m really debating on whether we should do this or not. If not, are there any other options for us? We’re moving from Arizona, to Alaska. Please help? I appreciate your input. Thanks!

For the first time we are not doing a DITY move and having movers move us from Arizona to Kansas, but we dont plan on getting a place to live until we physically get to Kansas. Would we just give the movers a later date to bring our stuff then just let them know the address when we get one? Is this a common thing, or should we just try to find a place before we get there? (We have had REALLY bad experiences with that in the past…) Thanks!
Thanks for your replies! To american patriot, youre a jack ass. I was looking for ideas as to what they would have us do, not definite answers. I’m sure the office will tell us what to do when we are able to talk to them after he gets orders, Im just the kind of person who likes to know things ahead of time. Thanks the rest of you!

My husband and I will be moving from the Riverside/San Bernardino area in California to the Phoenix area in Arizona. We are looking for a quality moving company that is both reliable and well-priced. We would appreciate any recommendations that others may have as well as contact information for these companies. Please include why you recommend these movers. I made the move from AZ to NY before and it was quite pricey. I was wondering if anyone had tips on making the trip a little cheaper.

Background: My roommate and I are moving from NY to AZ in late November. Neither of us have car here (not needed in the city) and we have two cats to take with us. We are trying to decide if we should rent a small SUV and take all of our stuff with us or hire movers or ship our stuff and fly, etc, etc.
